Its founder, Scott, didn’t come through the traditional system.
Orphaned young. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at nine years old. Excluded from school. Later surviving a stroke, major heart surgery, and extensive eye surgery to save his sight.
The easy route was never on offer, so resilience became the only option.
But this brand was never about adversity for the sake of a story.
It’s about what adversity teaches you if you stay standing.
When your body is tested, you learn discipline.
When systems fail you, you learn independence.
When survival is constant, you learn the value of things done properly.
That mindset is Yorkshire to its core.
After years of dealing with poor quality, empty promises, and suppliers who cut corners, The Yorkshire Standard was created to do the opposite.
To stand for craftsmanship over convenience.
Substance over noise.
Products that don’t pretend to be heritage, but earn it through quality and intent.
Then came the next chapter. Fatherhood.
With the arrival of his daughter, the mission sharpened. This wasn’t just about building something for himself anymore. It became about setting a standard she could grow up seeing.
A life built on effort, integrity, and pride in one’s work. Not excuses. Not flash. Just consistency and care.
